Outreach

We offer schools, youth groups, and local organisations FREE one off drama and backstage workshops as well as subsidized projects. Through creativity our outreach opportunities build confidence, creativity, and connection supporting young people to find their voice, develop new skills, and tell their own stories.

Our mission is to ensure that all young people have access to creative opportunities, regardless of background or circumstance.

One-off Workshops

One-off drama and backstage workshops are a great way to boost confidence, spark creativity, and introduce young people to the wider creative opportunities available in the borough.

We will work closely with you to design a workshop tailored specifically to the needs and interests of your young people. In the past, we have delivered workshops on topics such as exam stress, conflict resolution, storytelling, wellbeing, character creation, and backstage skills.

My class had very low self-esteem and confidence. LYT workshops had them all taking part, having a great time, and truly embracing who they are as individuals!

Bespoke Projects

Outreach Projects are a great way to build confidence, spark creativity, and introduce young people to the creative opportunities available in the borough.

We work closely with partners to design bespoke projects tailored to the needs and interests of their young people.

Projects can vary from:

Immersive adventures - Interactive storytelling where participants step into a fictional world and become characters such as pirates, jungle explorers, or space cadets.

Wellbeing projects - Creative activities that support emotional wellbeing, confidence, and self-expression while developing communication skills, resilience, and belonging.

Transition projects - Supporting young people through key life changes, such as moving from primary to secondary school, by building confidence and communication skills through drama.

Industry-ready projects - Practical sessions introducing careers in the creative industries, including acting, devising, writing, and backstage roles.

Themed or seasonal projects - Projects linked to themes, awareness campaigns, or events such as Anti-Bullying Week, World Book Day, or Black History Month.

To find out more or to book a project, please contact our Outreach Producer at outreach@lewishamyouththeatre.com or

Many of our families would otherwise struggle to access these kinds of projects, either because of financial difficulties or simply not even knowing what theatre is. It is such a great way for children to grow confidence, express and share their creativity
